Ali MacQueen returns with his second single, ‘One of These Days’ – a “song about change in all forms,” says the songsmith.

The softly psychedelic alt-rock rouser, was inspired by Tim Hardin’s ‘Don’t Make Promises’, and arrives with an anthemic, infectious chorus, reminiscent of 70s legend Graham Nash and Beck.

His second release on Blaggers Records – the home of JW Paris and a label run by Lutonian Alex Forde – ‘One of These Days’ sees MacQueen pick up where his widescreen debut, ‘Loretto’, left off.

He said: “People have really been affected by a global pandemic and it’s highlighted how badly they’ve have been treated by governments, authorities and institutions.

“We’re all waking up to how much inequality there is – people are doing their hardest to get by, but they feel like there’s not much in return for them – and they’re right.”

Yet, despite its seemingly downtrodden narrative, there’s a sense of optimism at play in ‘One of These Days,’ which was given its world exclusive premiere on Luton’s indie and rock radio show on Diverse FM, Transmission, on Monday November 8.

Enlisting the help of Oak Moses to be his backing band, following their return from a sold-out tour of Germany, MacQueen, who learnt his live music trade on the Luton scene of the late 90s, has just finished supporting cult Britpop heroes Echobelly on their UK tour.

You can catch MacQueen live at the launch party for ‘One of These Days’ at cult Leytonstone club night ‘What’s Cookin’ tomorrow (November 13).

Other live dates include:

Hackney Folklore, supporting Electric Enemy – November 16

Maida Vale’s Carlton Tavern on November 30
