Winger Millenic Alli has completed a permanent move away from Luton Town to Championship side Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old leaves Kenilworth Road after just 18 months at the club, having joined the Hatters from Exeter City during the January transfer window of the 2024/25 season.
Alli made an immediate impact following his arrival, scoring four goals in 16 appearances during the second half of the campaign. However, he was unable to prevent Luton from suffering relegation from the Championship.
He featured a further 22 times in all competitions during the first half of last season, scoring once, before joining fellow Championship side Portsmouth on loan in January.
The Republic of Ireland international helped Pompey retain their second-tier status during the second half of the campaign and has now secured a permanent return to the Championship by signing for Charlton.
Alli’s departure continues a summer of change at Kenilworth Road as manager Jack Wilshere reshapes his squad ahead of the new League One season.
In a brief statement confirming the transfer, Luton thanked the winger for his contribution during his time at the club.
The Hatters said: “The Republic of Ireland international now moves back to the Championship on a permanent basis, with our thanks for his efforts in a Luton shirt and best wishes for his future career.”
Alli told the Addicks’ website: “I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to get started, have a good time and show what I can do.
“The club’s goals are the exact same as mine, so we’re really trying to push this season and do the best we can. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at The Valley and get them cheering and on their feet.
“You can expect pace, power, directness and goals – skills too!”
