Luton will face one of the Premier League’s most in-form, free-scoring forward lines with depleted defensive options with Reece Burke ruled out with a hamstring injury ahead of the clash at Aston Villa on Sunday.
The centre half was replaced after 55 minutes of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest and asked if the former West Ham man will be available, boss Rob Edwards said: “He’s not unfortunately. I’m not sure how long he’ll be but Sunday will be too soon for Burkey, which is a real shame because he’s been playing well for us.”
Town have also been without Amari’i Bell since the defeat to Burnley on October 3 when he took departed early with a hamstring problem.
Edwards said: “He’s progressing really well but it was probably going to be a bit too soon this one as well. He’s been out training on the grass but on his own, not with the team yet. He should be available for the next game (against Liverpool).
Last week, centre half Mads Andersen was also ruled out for a couple of months, again with a hamstring injury.
However, midfielder Jordan Clark, who has not featured at all this season, is now on the road to recovery and has been in training and could be back in contention for selection within the next two weeks.
Edwards said: “Clicker is doing well. We hope to see him available before the next international break.”
