Luton runner Revée Walcott-Nolan ran a personal best in the Olympic 1500 metre semi-final last night but it was not enough to qualify for the medal race in Paris.

The 29-year-old had to qualify through the repechage after collisions in the heat saw her miss out on the first opportunity.

Despite those knocks, and adding an extra race to her schedule, to run three in three days, Walcott-Nolan ran a sub-four-minute race for the first time in her career, clocking 3:58.08.

It was also the sixth fastest British all-time finish in the 1500m and a world qualification standard for next year.

But as a ninth-placed finish in the semi-final it was not enough to see her join fellow Team GB hopefuls Laura Muir and Georgia Bell in the final.

Walcott-Nolan posted on her Instagram account: “Really bitter sweet champs for me and disappointed I didn’t do enough to make the final but 3 rounds in 3 days is rough”.
