Bizarre, bonkers, brilliant – you don’t see this in Bury Park every day

From Bury Park to the St George’s Square, Luton was treated to a one-of-a-kind event that lit up the town with lights, dance and singing.

Presented by Revoluton Arts, The Lampadophores street theatre brought traffic to a standstill and had onlookers in awe and surprise as inflatable puppets, performers described as ‘image blowers’ and acrobats from French street performance company Picto-Facto turned the town into a psychedelic fantasy land.

Those that lined the streets were encouraged to follow the parade as it made its surreal march through Bury Park, stopping off at crossroads to perform more magical chaos before. Moving down residential street, residents flung open their doors to witness the extravaganza light up the cold autumn night, before the show strutted down the centre of Old Bedford Road to its final destination in the town centre for more dancing and delights.

It was bizarre, it was bonkers, but it was brilliant and Luton needs more of this random joyful wonder. Here are some photos from the night.
