Luton Town manager Matt Bloomfield has hailed the signing of forward Josh Bowler as a significant boost to the club’s attacking options.

This week alone, the Hatters have signed goalscoring midfielder Thelo Aasgaard from Wigan and forward Millenic Alli from Exeter to add to their renewed attacking options, which were boosted by the capture of Isiah Jones from Middlesbrough, while even Kal Naismith has a goal in him as the defender returned on loan from Bristol City.

Luton have also reportedly had four bids turned down for Wycombe goal machine Richard Kone, the latest claimed to be £7million, and St Gallen forward Willem Geubbels.

But Bowler is Town’s seventh new signing this month, with Christ Makosso and Lamine Fanne arriving earlier in the month.

The 25-year-old brings second-tier know-how and a creative edge to the squad and boss Bloomfield said: “Josh is someone with vast Championship experience at a number of different clubs.

“He’s a real creative spark at the top of the pitch, making chances for others and he can finish too. He’s got a point to prove and wants to play in a formation that we are looking to use.”

Bloomfield highlighted Bowler’s hunger and tactical fit as key reasons for the signing.

“He’s shown a lot of hunger and desire to come here, and he’s someone we are really happy to have on board,” the manager told the club’s website, adding: “I’ve watched him a lot of times over the years and he’s always stood out as someone who wants to come inside to create.”

“He can play in any of those three positions behind a main nine, so he brings versatility and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

The Surrey-born forward, who started at QPR before joining Everton as a teenager, has gained experience at Hull City, Blackpool, Cardiff City, and Preston North End. With eight goals in his first season at Blackpool, Bowler’s talent earned him a move to Nottingham Forest, however limited opportunities led to loan spells, most recently with Preston.

Bloomfield’s confidence in Bowler’s abilities underscores the manager’s ambitions to strengthen Luton Town’s attacking dynamics and fans will now eagerly await his contributions as the Hatters aim to haul themselves out of the Championship relegation zone, starting with a tricky trip to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.
