Midfielder Lamine Fanne is currently sidelined with concussion, Luton Town boss Matt Bloomfield has confirmed, with the club taking a careful approach to his recovery in line with football’s strict head injury guidelines.

“Lamine has had a bit of a concussion,” Bloomfield said. of the 21-year-old scored twice in Town’s opening pre-season fixture at Borehamwood, but hasn’t featured since and will also miss tomorrow’s trip to Gillingham.

No firm return date has been given, but Fanne, who remains highly rated by the coaching staff, will need to follow the FA’s graduated return-to-play pathway, which takes a minimum of six days, though in most cases it can take 10 to 14 days or longer depending on how the player responds.

Fanne’s absence comes as Luton continue to manage several injuries – including Isaiah Jones and Tahith Chong – and illnesses across the squad, including for Mark McGuinness, with Bloomfield highlighting the importance of squad depth during this phase of preparation for their League One season.
