Luton Town boss Matt Bloomfield says a pre-season friendly against newly crowned Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur will provide the ideal send-off before his side begins their League One campaign.

The Hatters will host Spurs at Kenilworth Road on Saturday 26 July, rounding off their summer schedule against Premier League opposition, ahead of their first game in League One after relegation to the third tier on the final game of last season.

“This game is the perfect way for us to end our preparations before we embark on the season; the calibre of the opposition and the fact that it is at Kenilworth Road is really exciting,” Bloomfield told the club’s website.

“I hope our fans can come out in their numbers to watch a quality game of football and witness what we are building towards before we get down to business.”

The last time Tottenham came to town, the two clubs were in the Premier League, with the Hatters losing 1-0 in October 2023.

Now Luton are preparing for life in the third tier for the first time in six years, so fixture will offer Town supporters a first look at their squad on home soil ahead of the new season. Spurs, who earlier this week confirmed former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new manager after sacking Ange Postecoglu, are expected to bring a strong side to Bedfordshire.

Luton’s pre-season begins away at Boreham Wood on Saturday 5 July, with a 1pm kick-off, before the squad departs for their annual training camp in Slovenia the following day.

Supporters will next be able to see the team in action on Saturday 19 July when the Hatters travel to Gillingham for a 3pm kick-off at Priestfield. That’s followed by another away fixture on Tuesday 22 July, with the opposition yet to be confirmed.
