Jordan Clark and Dan Potts have both suffered ankle ligament damage that will keep them sidelined for months, Luton manager Rob Edwards has confirmed.

The duo sustained injuries in the weekend’s final pre-season friendly games at German Bundesliga side Bochum.

The pair have been ruled out of the Hatters’ Premier League debut at Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, but the boss Edwards has confirmed the extent of the issues.

“It’s going to be few months before we see them, unfortunately,” Edwards said at his pre-match press conference.

“We’re really disappointed about that, and so are they, but we will support them to get back as soon as they can.”

Luton will also be without defenders Gabriel Osho and Reece Burke though the latter is close to a return.

Edwards said: “Reece is progressing well, he could be back by next week. That’s the good news. We are there or thereabouts, it’s just those two (Potts and Clark) that we weren’t expecting.”
