Allan Campbell has joined Millwall on a season-long loan after being left out of the Luton Carabao Cup squad in midweek.
The 25-year-old moved to the Hatters from Motherwell in 2021 and made 86 appearance for the club, helping them to win promotion to the Premier League last season.
But Campbell had yet to feature this term and with the signing of Tahtith Chong from Birmingham City and Ross Barkley on a free, he has found himself further down the Kenilworth Road pecking order.
Speaking after the 3-2 win over Gillingham on Tuesday, Hatters boss Rob Edwards said: “We absolute love him. He deserves to play football as well, because he’s the best professional.
“It’s probably a little bit difficult for him to get that game time, so it’s something that we’re looking at, at the moment with him. He deserves to play.”
The midfielder becomes Gary Rowett’s eighth summer signing and will be available for selection for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship trip to Birmingham City subject to the relevant clearance from the EFL/FA.
“We’re delighted to have Allan join us. He brings with him the experience of Championship promotion with Luton,” said Alex Aldridge, Millwall’s Director of Football Operations and Recruitment.
“Allan is very popular at Luton, both as a player and a professional, and we are really looking forward to working with him.”
