Customers started queueing 20 hours before Popeyes opened its first restaurant in Luton on Friday (May 24).
The American chain is renowned as the home of Famous Louisiana Chicken, and such was the excitement in Luton for the opening inside The Mall that customers came early, very early.
And after queuing overnight for the opening of the doors the eager first few customers were handed free chicken sandwiches and limited-edition Popeyes UK festival merchandise, with Radio 1’s Big Weekend taking place in Stockwood Park this weekend
Chirstian Grigore was the second person through the doors of the new restaurant, having arrived at 3pm the day before opening.
He said: “Popeyes chicken is the best out there, and for that reason I had to be one of the first in the queue.”

Popeyes® Luton is now open in The Mall Luton, LU1 2LJ. Visitors to The Mall Luton can find Popeyes just off Central Square. The new restaurant includes seating indoors, touch screen ordering systems, online ordering, and takeaway is available for fans who prefer to take their Popeyes® away.
