George Moncur has joined Hull City on a two-year deal after he was not offered a new contract by Luton Town.
The midfielder, who joined the Hatters midway through the 2018/19 season became something of a cult hero at Kenilworth Road after scoring important goals, such as the late winner in the snow against Portsmouth to send Town to the top of League One in their title winning campaign.
His last strike was another stunner as he came off the bench to bag an equaliser at Wycombe Wanderers before Kazenga LuaLua’s blockbuster ensured a comeback victory. The backflipping winger was also released by Luton but is yet to find himself a new club.
Hull boss Grant McCann told the Tigers’ website: “We’re delighted to have brought George to the Club. There was a lot of competition for his signature and I worked with him for a brief period at Peterborough.
“George is a bubbly character and his nature and attitude will fit into our group, and he will complement the attacking players in our team.
“He’s very attack-minded and travels with the ball at speed. He can play in any of the front three positions or as a 10, and loves to take the ball off his back foot and get at people.
“He knows what it takes to win having achieved promotions in his career and he was part of a successful Luton team last year in the Championship.”
Interesting to read Grant McCann’s comments regarding George Moncur. Sounds just the kind of player we should have on our books!
