Luton have made defender Reece Burke their second summer signing on a free from Hull City, with manager Nathan Jones saying the centre back turned down offers, reportedly from Championship rivals Cardiff, Millwall, Derby and Bristol City, to join the Hatters.
The 24-year-old defender helped the Tigers to promotion from League One, but he rejected a new contract offer, with his current deal set to expire next month.
Burke graduated through the West Ham United ranks with current Hatters Dan Potts and Elliot Lee, making 15 first-team appearances and had loan spells with Bradford City, Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers before switching to Hull in 2018, where he played 110 times.
The former England youth international had been heavily linked with a move to Kenilworth Road and boss Jones told the club’s website: “We’re delighted to get this deal for Reece done because we’ve liked him for a while.
“He’s a good age, has good pedigree and is different to what we have at the club. He turned down other Championship clubs to come here, so we are convinced of his commitment to become a top player, which we feel he will achieve.
“He will give us different options which will help us to evolve, so we can’t wait to get working with him when we return for pre-season later this month.”
