Sonny Bradley would welcome an increase in the number of substitutes to help the Hatters cope with the strain of playing the remaining nine games in 28 days.
The EFL are due to meet next week to finalise plans for Project Restart, which is aiming for Championship action to return from June 20, subject to safety requirements.
One rule change up for discussion is an increase in the number of replacements that can used from three to five, while squad sizes could be increased from 18 to 20.
Bradley said: “With such a congested fixture list I think it’s only right that more substitutions are made available.
“I’ve been speaking to the boys and I’ve heard of rumours that it could be up to nine subs and you’d be able to use five of them, whether that’s right or not don’t take my word for that, but that’s the rumour that I’m hearing.
“If that is right, then of course we would welcome that. If the fixtures are what we think they are going to be, in a five or six week period, there’s obviously going to be more strain on the boy. But, mentally and physically, if we had the choice to use more substitutions and use them , like all Championship clubs, then I think we would welcome that.”
