Luton Council will set out a fresh blueprint for the future of the town centre next week as it prepares to launch its latest delivery plan, billed as a major update on how £1.7 billion of public and private investment will reshape the area.
The document follows on from the town centre masterplan published in 2021 and is expected to show what progress has been made since then, along with the next phase of projects due over the coming years.
The plan will be revealed at the Hat Factory Arts Centre on Monday 15 December, with an open public session running from 5.30 to 7pm, but pre-registering is required. The council says anyone with an interest in how the town centre will change is welcome to attend, although places must be booked in advance due to limited capacity.
Councillor James Taylor, portfolio holder for regeneration and inclusive growth, said: “This is your chance to take a look at the exciting developments coming to our town centre in the years to come. The delivery plan checks in on the progress we have made since the Luton town centre masterplan was published in 2021. It also sets out the many actions planned for the next five years which will see a transformation of our town centre. Do come along and find out more.”
The new delivery plan forms part of the council’s long term regeneration programme, which includes major schemes such as Luton Town Football Club’s Power Court stadium development, The Stage and improvements to public spaces across the central area.
The upcoming event is expected to provide the clearest update yet on how these projects fit together and what residents can expect next.
