Rob Edwards would not be drawn on transfer speculation surrounding Harry Cornick, but instead stressed that Luton will be in a “good position” when the window shuts on Tuesday.
Reports have claimed that Town’s Championship rivals Swansea and Bristol City have registered bids for the forward, who started in today’s 2-2 FA Cup fourth-round draw with League Two Grimsby.
Cornick’s is coming to the end of his contract and asked about the attacker’s future, manager Edwards said: “We’ve got some good players here and there’s always speculation. What’s really important that everyone understands is that we are really ambitious at this club, like I am, and we want to come out of every window in a stronger position and I’m convinced, I know that we’ll do that.
“But we’ve got good players and there’s always going to be interest in one or two. I think it’s really key, and I knew when I joined this club, that I had to buy into, and I do buy into, how we work and our financial constraints.
“The last thing any of us want to see is what happened years ago in the not too distant past where the club was in trouble.
“Now, I’m fully onboard with how we do things and I’m convinced and I know that we’ll be in a good position come the end of this window.
“I think it’s really important that I get that across.”
Pressed by in a BBC interview what that meant, and whether Cornick is staying or going, Edwards said:
“That means that there’s interest in our players, but we’ll be in a good position come the end of this window.”
Veteran striker Cameron Jerome left Luton by mutual consent yesterday for personal reason, before signing for League One Bolton Wanderers.
Asked if that meant a forward will have to be signed in the next few days, Edwards repeated: “We’ll be in a good position by the end of this window. We’ll recruit where we need to.
