Luton’s walking wounded are starting to return, but ahead of their FA Cup third-round replay at Wigan, boss Rob Edwards has revealed which players are closer to a return than others.
The Hatters drew 1-1 at Kenilworth Road last week to set up a re-run of the knockout contest, ahead of the two clubs’ Championship clash at the DW Stadium on Saturday.
Edwards is first focused on the cup, and has said there will be some changes to the side that suffered a 3-2 defeat to West Brom at the weekend.
That could provide an opportunity to get minutes into some of his Hatters that haven’t featured much of late. Here’s who is and isn’t available…
Reece Burke
Edwards said: “He is OK to go. I think he’s been progressing very well, got an hour into him (against Wigan last week), was able to build on some of the minutes he got against Huddersfield and he’s been training well since then. He’s in a really good place at the moment.”
Luke Berry
Edwards said: “Bez trained today (Monday) which is good news, he was out on the grass, so I’ll have a quick catch-up with him when I’m done, so think he was good.”
Henri Lansbury
Edwards said: “Okay, back out on the grass today, so it just takes a bit of a while, the nature of his injury, he’s progressing, but every now and again you can progres a little bit and then there’s a little bit of, or might have to take it easy for a couple of days and then go again, he’s probably had a week like that where he’s getting there and it’s just not quite ready to progress to the next stage.”
Sonny Bradley
Edwards said: “Sonny is, not seen him out on the grass for a bit, as we’re well aware of it, it was a significant injury, even though it could have been a hell of a lot worse.”
Fred Onyedinma
Edwards said: “Fred is another one who is doing well, trained with us today, so we’re hoping to have him back fairly soon.”
Luke Freeman
Edwards revealed last week that the midfielder had undergone a groin injury and asked if that would mean months on the sidelines, rather than weeks, the boss said: “It probably will be. That kind of operation, I don’t want to put a timescale on it, some people have got back quicker than others, every individual’s different, but he’ll probably be a couple of months, at least.”
