Edwards has ‘lots of options’ for Ogbene after his exit for Ipswich

Luton are not “light” on the right, according to boss Rob Edwards, who says he has the cover for departed wide man Chiedozie Ogbene after his £8million move to Premier League Ipswich.

The deal represented a good deal for the Hatters, who signed the Republic of Ireland international on a free last summer.

But with a few days left of the transfer window at the time Ogbene was sold, the question was whether Luton would replace the 27-year-old.

However, just before the window shut on Friday night, Town had only announced the signing of midfielder Lamine Fanne from Swedish club AIK, loaning him back for the remainder of their season, which ends in November.

But Edwards was confident that he has the bodies to cover the position acted by Ogbene.

“I think we’ve got lots of options,” the manager said, adding: “We’ve got Hashi (Daiki Hashioka) to come back into it as well. Not everyone seen Hashi fully at the moment. We’ve had to use him in so many different positions last year, and we had all these injuries, people haven’t seen him playing in his best positions.

“So, we’ve got we’ve got good numbers to cover in those areas. We’ve got different shapes that we can play as well to make sure that we can, keep a balance of having control, but keeping real attacking threat on that side as well.

“So, I don’t feel that we’re we’re light in that area.”
