Teden Mengi will be going nowhere during the transfer window, says Luton boss Rob Edwards with the defender reportedly interesting Town’s Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Fulham.
The Hatters signed the centre half from Manchester United in the summer and he’s quickly established himself as a first-team starter.
Mengi’s Premier League debut came in Luton’s first win in the division at Everton in September and has played in every game since, staring all but two.
The 21-year-old’s performances have apparently already attracted outside interest, but Edwards said: “It just shows that the lads are doing well.
“T’s been a revelation, I think, since coming in. He’s probably played more games than he anticipated he would do, early on. But he’s just taken to it like a duck to water.
“He deserves to be starting the games because he’s playing the way he is. He’s become a really important player for us, ahead of schedule.
“We knew this could happen, longer term, but he’s done great so you can understand it (transfer rumours), performing so well against the best players in the world. I understand it, but he stays with us.”
