Brendan Galloway will leave Luton this summer after he missed out on Luton’s 25-man squad to finish the remainder of the campaign, manager Nathan Jones has confirmed.

The full back is still out, having not fully recovered from his serious knee injury suffered in November 2019, but the end of his Hatters career was all but assured with his absence from the squad named last week.

Galloway featured in the 1-0 FA Cup third round win over Reading but has not been seen since. He was due to join Shrewsbury in the January transfer window but the move fell through and now Jones has confirmed that the former Everton defender will depart Kenilworth Road, having made just six appearances in two seasons with Town.

“He’s still injured at the minute so it’s been very, very frustrating for Brendan,” said Jones, adding: “It’s been a frustrating process and I don’t want to comment too much because I don’t understand what’s happened at times.

“But Brendan will continue to do his rehab with us and then we’ll find a new club in the summer. Obviously, he’s outside the 25, he’s not featured and he’s been very unfortunate with his injury before I came and apparently he’s not recovered from those.

“We will do our due diligence with him, he’s a good kid, no problem, and then he’ll pursue his career elsewhere, when the time’s right.”
