Luton Town midfielder Lamine Fanne has completed a permanent transfer to Italian Serie B side Venezia, in a deal that will keep him at the Venice club until 30 June 2030, with an option to extend for the 2030/31 season.

The move comes after the 22-year-old was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 1-0 win over Blackpool after which manager Jack Wilshere admitted he was prepared to consider an exit that suited both club and player.

Wilshere had stressed that Fanne’s latest omission was not linked to his performance after he was left out of the squad following the Vertu Trophy defeat to Swindon, but he played only once more for Town, with a four-minute cameo in Tuesday’s humbling 1-0 defeat to ten-man Huddersfield.

Online reports over the weekend linked him to a Kenilworth Road exit, which has now been confirmed. In a statement confirming the transfer, Luton said: “We thank Lamine for his efforts as a Hatter and wish him well for his future career.”

Pressed yesterday on transfer interest in the Spaniard prior to the deal being confirmed, Wilshere said Luton were open to offers.

“There’s interest, of course, there’s interest, because he’s a good player and there’s interest in a lot of our players. And let’s see, let’s see what happens,” the manager said.

“I think we want the best for us, but we also want the best for Lamine and let’s see what happens.”

Fanne signed for the Hatters from Swedish top-flight club AIK in the summer of 2024 but remained in Stockholm to complete the Allsvenskan season before arriving in Bedfordshire last January.

He made 13 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign and featured a further 27 times this season, taking his total to 40 games in a Luton shirt. His two goals for the club came in successive matches against Northampton and Forest Green.
