Luton Town will kick off their 2025/26 League One season at home to newly-promoted AFC Wimbledon in a Friday night curtain-raiser under the lights at Kenilworth Road, after the fixtures were released.

The Dons, who clinched promotion via the League Two play-offs last month after beating Walsall at Wembley, will be the Hatters’ first test of the new campaign on Friday 1 August. The clash, which kicks off at 8pm, will be shown live on Sky Sports Football.

It marks a return to Kenilworth Road for the south-west Londoners, who were among the last third-tier visitors in 2019 when they played out a 2-2 draw that delayed Luton’s League One title celebrations. That night, Elliot Lee and James Collins struck in the first half, but an inspired performance from future England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale saw Wimbledon fight back for a point.

Matt Bloomfield’s men follow the opener with a short trip to face Peterborough United on Saturday 9 August, before heading to Valley Parade to meet another promoted side, Bradford City, a week later.

August rounds off with back-to-back home games against Wigan Athletic and Cardiff City, before the month ends with a trip to Burton Albion on Saturday 30 August.

The Hatters will be at home for two festive fixtures, welcoming Wycombe Wanderers on Boxing Day and Leyton Orient on Monday 29 December. Bloomfield’s side will then see in the new year away at Exeter City on 1 January.

The final home match of the season comes against Barnsley on Saturday 25 April, before the campaign concludes with a potentially decisive trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 2 May.
