Luton’s record signing Ryan Giles has signed for Hull City permanently with the Tigers triggering an option to buy the wing-back for an undisclosed fee after he spent the second half of last season on loan in east Yorkshire.
The winger arrived at Kenilworth Road last summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee reported to be around £5million, though the official price has never been disclosed.
Giles started in Luton’s first ever Premier League game, but he failed to settle at the club and once he was usurped by Alfie Doughty, the former Wolves ace played a largely supporting role from the bench until he joined Hull City on loan in January.
Giles told the Hull Daily Mail in May: “I got my move to Luton, as a footballer, I’ve always just wanted to play football that’s just been me as a person.
“Everyone’s different, at the end of the day and I can’t speak for anyone else, but just for me, personally, I’m at my happiest and most confident when I’m playing consistently, and I think that was something I really wanted to do and the club (Hull) have offered me that.”
He featured 17 times for the Tigers in the Championship and will face off against his former side on November 23rd when Hull travel to Luton in the second tier.
A statement from the Hatters said: “We thank Ryan for his contribution to our first Premier League season and wish him all the best for the future!”
