Defender Gabriel Osho has signed for Luton Town to further his development after leaving Championship rivals Reading in the summer.
The Hatters have been interested in the 22-year-old since then but, as he was a free agent they did not have to complete the deal before the transfer window closed.
Osho told the club’s website: “It’s taken a bit of time since I first heard it was a possibility of coming to Luton, but I’m buzzing to be here.
“I made a decision to leave Reading because I wanted an opportunity like this for the next part of my development, and I’m so pleased it’s been sorted and I’m now a Luton Town player.
“I’ve only got good experiences of Kenilworth Road from last season. I can’t wait to get started and get back out there in an orange shirt!”
Manager Nathan Jones said: “We were aware there might be an opportunity to bring him in. He’s got a decent pedigree, comes from Reading, we knew that he was getting offered a deal at Reading, but he didn’t see a pathway there, so we just saw an opportunity to bring a young, athletic, hungry player.
“It had to be the right decision for us, because obviously where he plays, centre half, right back, we’re covered in that area as it is, so we didn’t want to curtail anyone.
“So, as soon as we saw that we had an opportunity to loan Peter Kioso out and further his development, we then were able to fill the void by bringing Gabi in.”
Osho spent over a decade with Reading, captaining their Under-23s before getting his first-team debut in December 2018.
The defender came through the Royals’ academy a couple of years behind Jack Stacey, who joined Luton in 2017 and, after back-to-back promotions signed for then Premier League Bournemouth in a multi-million pound switch.
During the latter stages of last season, Osho made five Championship appearances, including in Reading’s 5-0 victory against the Hatters at Kenilworth Road where he played the full 90 minutes at right-back.
He had already gained first-hand experience of men’s football in 2017 and 2018, when he spent time on-loan with Maidenhead United and Aldershot Town, as well as loans to Bristol Rovers and Yeovil Town.
