Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road stadium will host England men’s under-21s for the first time in 31 years, when the Young Lions face Austria on September 9 (7:45pm).
The last time the Hatters hosted the under-21s was in February 1993, when England beat San Marino 6-0 with goals coming from Richard Hall, Darren Anderton, Garry Flitcroft, Mike Sheron, Jamie Redknapp and Steve McManaman.
The match in September will be the Lee Carsley’s team’s first home fixture since their 7-0 win over Luxembourg at Bolton Wanderers in March – in which Luton defender Teden Mengi made his U21s debut as a substitute – and will come after their UEFA U21 Euro qualifying game in Northern Ireland on Friday September 6.
England currently sit joint top of Group F alongside Ukraine in the race for next summer’s U21 European Championship finals in Slovakia, and the match against Austria will act as preparation for October’s home double against Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
Tickets for the game cost £15 for adults or £10 for Luton Town season ticket holders and members and concessions (66+, U22 & U17) are £7.50 or £5 for Luton Town season ticket holders and members.
