The great escape is back on after goals from Sonny Bradley and Elliot Lee saw Luton  do the double over relegation rivals Huddersfield to move to within two points of safety.

The Hatters didn’t have a single shot in a dreary first half, in which the Terriers were no better, but that changed early in the second half.

With only their second corner of the contest,  skipper Bradley stood in front of Christopher Schindler to head in from close range. One shot on target, one goal.

For the centre back it was his third of the season and Town doubled their joy in the 71st minute.

James Collins raced on to a sublime Luke Berry through-ball – his second in successive games – and lashed against the post, but Lee was alive to the rebound, nipped in front of Andy King and smashed in from 18 yards with goalie Jonas Lossi rooted to the spot.

It was the only the attacker’s second goal of the season and first in the league, having been frozen out by previous boss Graeme Jones.

There was none of the late heartbreak of Tuesday’s draw against Barnsley as Town saw out the game in comfort to record their biggest away win of the campaign, haul themselves off the foot of the table and move to within three points off a now worried Huddersfield.
