Nathan Jones blasted the Huddersfield fans as “an absolute disgrace” after hordes of them invaded the pitch at the final whistle and set about abusing him, his players and the travelling Town fans.
The Terriers broke Hatters hearts with a late Jordan Rhodes winner to end a remarkable season for the visitors and send the Yorkshire side to Wembley for the Championship play-off final.
Jones said he was “proud” of his players, claiming they were the better side, but just didn’t take their chances, but he hit out and supporters that ran onto the pitch and let their club down.
“The fans were an absolute disgrace,” he said, adding: “How one of us haven’t been… the stewards, I don’t know why they turned up.
“They were protecting ours, to come on the pitch, but the fans were an absolute disgrace.
“We won’t complain because football fans are like that. Some of them are idiots.
“But they didn’t paint Huddersfield Town as a good club, in terms of how they were.
“They’ve won the game, go and celebrate with your players, celebrate something wonderful. Instead, they were more concerned with obscene gestures.
“I’ve seen little kids, I’ve seen a mother with a little kid. If that was my wife I’d be disgusted.”
Jordan Clark and skipper Sonny Bradley could be seen being confronted, while James Bree was reportedly slapped in footage captured by the Sky Sports cameras. And, images on Twitter showed one 85-year-old fan with a cut to his head.
Jones said he suffered abuse too, adding: “They approached me, abused me and done stuff to me.
“Some were OK, some congratulated us, but they haven’t painted Huddersfield Town in a good light after that.
“But, that’s minor individuals. Not everyone would’ve been a pure Huddersfield fan. They might’ve turned up tonight because that’s probably the biggest crowd Huddersfield have had this season. Some of them might not be true Huddersfield fans, I don’t know.
“I don’t understand. Go and celebrate with your players, but they were more concerned with taunting and abusing our fans, and filming it.
“That logic, I don’t get. I literally saw a woman. Some of the things she was doing, that can’t be northern, surely?”

If this pitch anarchy is allowed to grow players etc will be in real danger.
Such a shame a fabulous performance and season couldn’t have been rightfully applauded by the orange army.

But absolutely, those fans at the end were disgraceful. Part of me hopes there’s no reprisals when we next play then at home. Part.
Thought the policing and stewarding was woeful at the end. But same with getting into the ground and a huge difference from how it was a month ago. That club has been let down by it’s fans. And not just one or 2. An awful lot. But the club must have known that would happen. And they gave no protection to Jones, Cohen, Clarke, big Mick, and several others who took a.huge amount of shit. I’ve sent photos to HTAFC. They didn’t stop people throwing a load of shit in the at us either. Now fair enough, the stewards are paid peanuts. But what were the police doing? And that behaviour can’t be excused as youthful exuberance. Just fucking hooliganism.
But back to us! We will go again. I said to my brother on Saturday, we’ll be in the prem within 5 years. I’m certain it’ll happen! COYH!!!
