Nathan Jones says the international break is needed after three impressive performances that saw Luton move onto the 50-point mark to almost certainly guarantee another season in the Championship.
The Hatters will be without a match this weekend, though Simon Sluga, Joe Morrell and James Collins are on duty with their national teams.
The latter, Town’s top scorer, notched his first competitive goal in Tuesday’s 3-2 World Cup qualifying defeat to Serbia, while Morrell featured in Wales’ defeat to Belgium.
But the rest of the Hatters squad are not back in action until the trip to face Wayne Rooney’s Derby County on April 2, where they’ll go on the back of two consecutive victories.
Asked if the break was welcome, manager Jones told the BBC: “Yeah definitely, because the team have put in a massive shift. Yes, we’re in good form, with three big performances.
“We should’ve beaten Swansea. We should have categorically beaten Swansea, I don’t care who tells me any different. We were better than Swansea, it’s just they showed the one moment of quality and we didn’t show enough of it.
“Then we had a deserved win in midweek (against Coventry) and backed that up (against Preston), so we’re in a good place.
“But they’ve put in massive shifts. So, to recover after those levels of performances, the break is needed and we’ll give them that break.”
