Marvelous Nakamba is months away from a return after undergoing knee surgery, Luton boss Rob Edwards has revealed.
The 30-year-old midfielder hasn’t featured since the December 10 defeat to champions Manchester City and he went under the knife last month.
At the time, the length of time Nakamba would be missing from action was not known immediately after the operation to repair a meniscus torn while passing the ball in training.
There is still no definitive answer to that questions but the holding midfielder won’t be back any time soon.
“It’s not great,” said Edwards, giving an update on Nakamba’s situation, adding: “It is still going to be quite a significant one. We still don’t know definitely on a time but it is months.
“It’s a real hard one for him, first of all, because he’s so important to us. You don’t want anyone injured anyway but I love seeing his smiley face around all the time, around the training ground.
“When he’s in there (treatment room at The Brache) he’s still smiling but you can see it’s hurting him that he can’t get out there and train.
“But we’ll do everything we can to support him and get him back as quick as possible. When that is, right now I don’t know, but it will be a couple more months at least.”
