Luton Town will start the 2021/22 Championship season by hosting newly promoted Peterborough United on August 7 in a tough first month of the campaign that will see them face relegated West Bromwich Albion away, play-off semi-finalists Barnsley at Oakwell and demoted Sheffield United, with the visit of Birmingham also included.
Town have also drawn Stevenage in the first round of the Carabao Cup, which will their second game of the campaign, with the second round also scheduled for August.
Back in the league, and the Hatters will also have home comforts for the Boxing Day fixture against Bristol City and for the campaign closer against Reading on May 7.
Captain Sonny Bradley told the club’s website: “It is an exciting day looking at the fixtures and now you can start to plan pre-season and building up to that Peterborough game. It is a tough one, obviously they will be full of momentum coming up from League One and it will be a difficult game.
“The main thing for me, what I was thinking about was I wanted to be at home for the first game, and we are. For me, we could have played anyone, as long as we were at home. That is what I really wanted.”
