Luton Town have signed Millenic Alli from Exeter for an undisclosed fee with the forward hungry to prove himself at a higher level.
The 24-year-old is the Hatters’ sixth signing this month and he arrives at the end of a day that Town have reportedly returned with a fourth transfer bid of £7million for Wycombe striker Richard Kone.
Down in Devon it has been claimed that a £1.5million fee was accepted by the Grecians for Alli and he joins the Hatters in fine form having bagged 12 goals in League One this season, with his scoring ability and versatility as both a left-sided forward and central striker have made him a valuable asset.
The Irishman’s previous experiences include non-league stints at South Shields, Workington, Ashton United, Stockport County, Chorley, and FC Halifax Town, where he lifted the FA Trophy in 2023.
He moved to Exeter in January last year and, having worked his way up from non-league football to the Championship in the space of 12 months, Alli’s journey mirrors Luton Town’s own rise through the football divisions in recent years.
“I’m very happy and I feel very blessed to be here at Luton Town. It’s a blessing and a great opportunity for me to see what I can do,” Alli told LTFC+.
“It feels fantastic, very similar to this club in recent years. I started off quite low in non-league, managed to be consistent and have worked really hard and played as well as I could. I’ve worked my way up and here I am today.”
Reflecting on his previous encounter with Luton manager Matt Bloomfield’s Wycombe side, Alli added: “I played against the gaffer a while back for Exeter. It was a very good game and we went 2-0 up, but it ended up being a draw. It was good to show him what I could do there, and hopefully I can score goals for him now.”
