Luton’s new loan signing Izzy Brown says having a girlfriend from Lewsey Farm played a part in him joining the Hatters from Chelsea.

The striker was the second of three late transfer loan deadline recruits along with Aston Villa’s James Bree and Manchester City’s Luke Bolton.

And while he played with Town right back Martin Cranie when on loan at Huddersfield and left back Brendan Galloway with the England youth set-up, to ensure he settles in quickly in the dressing room, having a Luton connection off the pitch will also help.

“My girlfriend is from Lewsey Farm, just around the corner from here and her family still live here. So I think that helped my decision quite a bit,” Brown said, adding: “My family are happy here and hopefully they’ll be happy seeing me on the pitch playing. I have already tried to get some more tickets than what the club said they could give me for them.”

The Peterborough-born forward said he’s feeling sharp after a pre-season with the Chelsea first team, but that a move to Kenilworth Road is the right fit for him.

Talking to the club’s website, Brown said: “I am over the moon that the move finally happened, I am very excited to be here. The manager seems like he’s going to get the best out of me and that’s what I need at this moment in my career, to be playing football, and I think that Luton is the best place for me.

“I think with the team that Luton have, I watched the (Middlesbrough) game the other day and the way they play football, it’s the way it should be played. So I think Luton is the best suit for me, I can’t wait to get on the pitch and play for this club.”
