Luton boss Nathan Jones will call Peter Kioso back from his season-long loan at Bolton Wanderers if the Hatters full-back woes continue.
Rhys Norrington-Davies was withdrawn at half time of yesterday’s 3-0 with some soft tissue problem in his hamstring.
The Wales international had played every minute of Town’s Championship campaign because of the continued absences of Dan Potts and James Bree.
The Sheffield United loan ace will have a scan which will determine the damage, with fatigue the best case scenario and a tear the worst.
If it’s the latter, that will leave Martin Cranie as the club’s only fit full back, so Kioso will be recalled.
Jones said: “At this rate I’ll 100 per cent call Peter Kioso back, but that wasn’t the reason we let him go. A lot of things have happened in the meantime, but yeah, 100 per cent.”
Kioso, signed in January from National League Hartlepool United, made his debut in the 3-0 Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester United, but was allowed to go on loan during the transfer window as Luton tried to bring in another full back, but a deal didn’t materialise.
Nobody wants a full-back crisis, of course, but it would be good to see Peter Kioso brought back asap. Given the inevitable pressure on the squad, he should always have been contributing – and learning – at home.
