Luton’s own JW Paris are back with a brand-new single, ‘Anything’ — a shimmering, swaggering slice of 90s-inspired Britpop that captures both the nostalgia and restless energy of a British summer night.

The three-piece — featuring Danny Collins, Aaron Forde and Gemma Clarke — have been riding a wave of momentum since storming Radio 1’s Big Weekend in the boys’ hometown. Since then, JW Paris have picked up spins on BBC Radio, taken the stage at The Great Escape Festival, sold out shows across Europe and even seen their songs synced across US TV and film — taking their sound far beyond UK borders.

Now, they’re taking things up a gear. With the release of ‘Anything’ and a headline show at Camden’s iconic Hawley Arms on October 30 — the favourite watering hole of the late Amy Winehouse — the band say they’re channelling “the euphoric energy of the Britpop summer – with sonic nods to Elastica, Blur, Pulp, and the swagger of peak Oasis – into their boldest, loudest, and most ambitious release yet.”

Described as “the bold first step of JW Paris’ 2025 EP,” ‘Anything’ “captures the energy, attitude and atmosphere of Britpop’s heyday while offering a modern twist.”

Built on spiralling guitars and a driving rhythm, the track has “a restless, anthemic energy that bottles the last days of the British summer, bittersweet.” Lyrically, the band explore, “possibility, identity and the blurring line between dreams and nightmares”.

“I could be anything, but everything is nothing… If dreaming was a reality, then my nightmare would look a little bit like you, sings Forde. That looping mantra of spinning “around and around” reflects both the dizzying rush of youth and the claustrophobia of being trapped in someone else’s expectations.

From the defiant lyrics of, “Don’t try to bring me down and make me feel this way” to the isolation of “You’re just another face in the crowd, drifting out of space,” ‘Anything’ blends rebellion with vulnerability — a mix that’s quickly becoming JW Paris’ signature.

“It’s a song steeped in nostalgia but not stuck there,” the band say. “A modern anthem for a generation still searching for meaning in the chaos.”

JW Paris have been making waves across the UK’s indie scene, with previous singles ‘Geeks & Freaks’, ‘Who Are You’, ‘Alive’ and ‘You’ve Got Me’ racking up over 50,000 streams on Spotify and nationwide airplay from Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1), Steve Lamacq (6Music), John Kennedy (Radio X) and Frank Skinner (Absolute Radio). Their music has also featured on Apple Music’s ‘New In Rock’ playlist, earned a ‘Single of the Day’ spot with This Feeling, and gained glowing coverage from over 20 indie blogs.

Fresh from a European tour, JW Paris’ upcoming London headline date is set to cement their growing reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting new live bands. As the band put it: “It’s a statement of intent: a soundtrack for long summer British London nights, fleeting moments and the promise of everything yet to come.”
