Luton goalkeepers Tim Krul and James Shea offered heartfelt support and praise for team-mate Thomas Kaminski after it was sadly revealed that the Belgian’s father, Jacek, had passed away.

With Kaminski flying back to his homeland to be with his family, Hatters boss Matt Bloomfield and the fellow stoppers collected his two awards at the Luton Town Supporters’ Trust Awards night

Kaminski won the Ian Pearce Memorial Trophy – for the most man-of-the-match awards – and also the Bobbers’ Travel Club Away Player of the Season.

A statement from the club said: “We are saddened to learn that Thomas Kaminski’s father, Jacek, passed away yesterday. We are all with you, Thomas”

While accepting the Ian Pearce Memorial Trophy, Bloomfield said Kaminski would be given as much time as he needs. Krul and Shea then paid tribute to their team-mate.

The Dutch international said: “We’ve got a really close group as goalkeepers, obviously with Kev [Dearden], Pilks [Kevin Pilkington]. It’s a sad day. We feel the pain for him. He’s always very bubbly and he wasn’t there today in training, so he’s already a big miss.

“We will give him the support he needs and hopefully he feels ready for Saturday to do what he’s done for the last two seasons and keep us up in this league.”

Shea added: “Since his first day here, he’s been unbelievable, not just as a keeper but as a person. He’s been fantastic. It’s a shame he can’t be here but [there are] bigger things to worry about.

“He’s been fantastic since his first day and he deserves this award and every other award he gets.”
