‘Light at the end of the tunnel’ for Rea but Brown ‘touch and go’ ahead of QPR clash

There is ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ for Luton’s Glen Rea who has trained today, though Izzy Brown (Achillies) is unlikely to be risked against QPR tomorrow

Influential defensive-minded midfielder Rea pulled out of the warm-up  before the 1-1 draw at Leeds with a thigh strain and has not featured in the last three games.

But ahead of tomorrow’s big Championship clash at home to the Rs, there is hope that he could be in contention for some, if not all of the final three games of the campaign, with Town in the survival mode.

“He’s training today, so hopefully he’ll have no reaction to that,” said Jones, adding: “If not, he could be available. Whether that’s tomorrow is one thing but at least now there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”

Rea returned at the turn of the year after Simon Parsell (Head of Medical) and Chris Phillips (Physiotherapist) helped get him back playing, 10 months after serious knee injury.

Jones added: “What we didn’t want to do is really push him in those games coming up and then him be out totally, because you never know what’s going to have.”

“It’s touch and go with his knee, really. We won’t risk him if he’s not right, but he’s a very creative player and we might need that in the coming games, so let’s see.

“It’s such a quick turnaround between games that we don’t get much time to recover. Let’s see.

Chelsea loan ace Brown has missed the last two matches after injuring his Achilles.

He returned to the Premier League outfit last week for medical attention and asked if he’ll be available for tomorrow’s must-win match, Jones said: “It’s touch and go. We won’t risk him if he’s not right, but he’s a very creative player and we might need that in the coming games, so let’s see.
