Substitutes Luke Bolton and Callum McManaman combined to earn Luton Town a point against Millwall, on a night where visiting keeper Bartosz Bialkowski produced a string of fine stops to frustrate Graeme Jones’ men.

With time beginning to tick down, Bolton burst a gut to get to the byline where he picked out McManaman who coolly slotted home four minutes from time to rescue a point for the home side.

Looking to back up their win at Blackburn on Saturday, the Hatters were soon into their stride, with the free-flowing football they have become accustomed to, playing under the former coach of the Belgium national team.

It was an unchanged Luton side who had the first chance of the game, with midfielder Izzy Brown firing a free-kick over the bar. Another set-piece almost provided the first goal of the game when Brown fooled the Millwall defence to roll the ball across the box to Dan Potts, but the left-back saw his shot blocked.

Training ground routines were the order of the night as a Brown corner fired into the near post was met by the run of James Collins whose first time shot drew a brilliant save from Bialkowski, as a personal battle between the two commenced. Town continued to huff and puff but the two sides went into the break goalless.

It was more of the same after the break, as the Kenilworth Road crowd created that magical atmosphere under the lights, and watched on as Brown once again delivered a disguised free-kick, finding Collins with a precise pass when many expected him to cross the ball.

The Republic of Ireland striker saw his shot deflected behind, and from the resulting corner, his nemesis between the sticks pulled off his best save of the night to deny the striker a 51st Town goal, as his acrobatic volley was pushed onto the bar and away.

Millwall then took the lead against the run of play. Jed Wallace found a yard of space inside the box. Simon Sluga got fingertips to it only for Tom Bradshaw to react quickest to fire the Lions ahead.

Town were given a let off soon after, when towering striker Matt Smith missed a gilt-edged chance, which looked easier to score than miss, but miss he did with his header from two yards out.

Jones then brought Kazenga LuaLua and McManaman onto the pitch and the former was soon linking up with Collins, whose near post effort was once again repelled by the impressive Bialkowski, as the thought grew that it wasn’t going to be the Hatters’ night.

However, in the closing stages, Bolton and McManaman combined to secure a point.
