Luton boxing champion Tysie Gallagher says she is determined to become a world champion after signing a multi-year deal with one of the sport’s fastest-growing promotional companies.
The reigning British, Commonwealth and WBO International super-bantamweight champion has joined Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the company founded by high-profile boxer and social media star Jake Paul alongside businessman Nakisa Bidarian.
Gallagher, who grew up in Luton and has become one of Britain’s leading female fighters, joins a stable packed with some of the biggest names in women’s boxing, including Ellie Scotney, Caroline Dubois, Chantelle Cameron, Savannah Marshall, Terri Harper, Ramla Ali and Shannon Courtenay.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable rise through the professional ranks since turning over after a successful amateur career. She made history as the first female British super-bantamweight champion and is currently ranked fifth in the world by the IBF at 122lbs. Sge could soon find herself in contention for a vacant world title after fellow Briton Scotney recently relinquished her undisputed super-bantamweight belts.
Gallagher came close to claiming world honours in November 2023 when she challenged Segolene Lefebvre for the WBO world title in only her eighth professional contest.
Her stock has continued to rise since then, most recently retaining her British, Commonwealth and WBO International titles with a unanimous points victory over Ellie Hellewell after returning from a difficult year marked by personal tragedy after the murder of her mother-in-law, Dianne Cleary, and injury setbacks.
The fighter, nicknamed The First Lady, was due to make her debut on an MVP card earlier this year but was forced to withdraw from the promotion’s London event in April because of a shoulder injury.
However, MVP return to the UK in August with a major Birmingham show headlined by the world super-welterweight unification clash between Mikaela Mayer and Chantelle Cameron, and Gallagher is expected to feature prominently as she continues her push towards a world title fight.
“Signing a multi-year deal with Most Valuable Promotions is a huge moment in my career, and I want to thank Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul, and Mike Leanardi for this opportunity,” said Gallagher.
“I’m excited to represent Britain on the global stage and become world champion!”
MVP has become a major force in women’s boxing in recent years, promoting several of the sport’s biggest events and champions.
Announcing Gallagher’s signing, co-founders Bidarian and Paul praised the Lutonian’s achievements and ambitions.
“Few fighters have done more to push British women’s boxing forward than Tysie Gallagher, a fighter who has consistently proven herself against top competition and built one of the strongest resumes in the country,” they said in a statement.
“From becoming the first-ever female British super bantamweight champion to earning top-five world rankings and challenging for a world title, she has demonstrated the skill, toughness, and determination that embody everything MVP looks for in its athletes.
“As we continue to strengthen MVPW’s global roster and deepen our roster within the 122lb division, we’re excited to welcome another elite UK fighter and provide the platform for Tysie to pursue her world title ambitions.”
The announcement represents another significant milestone in Gallagher’s career and could bring her a step closer to fulfilling her long-held ambition of becoming Luton’s next world boxing champion.
