Luton Town are aiming to bring Mainz 05 midfielder Tom Krauß to Kenilworth Road.
The defensive minded 23-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements at the Bundesliga side, despite signing from RB Leipzig last summer in a €5million long-term deal until 2028.
It is understood that Mainz will look to recoup the transfer fee for Krauß, who has played for his country from under-15 to under-21 level, but has not featured for his club this season.
Krauß played 29 times for Die Nullfünfer in the Bundesliga last season, and also appeared in German top-flight 33 times while on loan at Schalke in 2022/23.
Krauß would fit Town’s profile of signing young, hungry players, with resale potential, and would go some way to ease bolstering their midfield options, with Marvelous Nakamba still to return from a lengthy knee injury.
