Luton have been drawn against Norwich City in the first round of the Carabao Cup South, setting up a first competitive encounter since the Hatters’ giant-killing exploits against the Canaries in the 2013 FA Cup.
The match against the recently relegated Premier League side is scheduled to take place on the weekend of September 5.
Town faced City in a pre-season match last summer, when the East Anglian side had just won the Championship title, when they thumped the Hatters 5-1 at Kenilworth Road, in former boss Graeme Jones’ first game in charge.
But Luton fans will be hoping for a repeat of the glorious day in January seven years ago when Scott Rendell’s strike at Carrow Road saw Luton become the first non-league team to dump a Premier League side out of the FA Cup in the Premier League era.
Town will face Norwich at least twice more this season in the Championship – the first time in 13 years – after City were relegated from the Premier League, with the league fixture list to be announced on Friday.
