The Football Association have fined Luton £10,000 after finding them guilty of players surrounding referee Jeremy Simpson during the 1-0 defeat at home to Burnley.

Tom Lockyer was booked for dissent after referee Jeremy Simpson awarded the Clarets a penalty for a Gabriel Osho handball. The decision saw Town players question the official.

After Ashley Barnes had given Barnsley all three points from the spot, Lockyer continued his remonstrations and was then shown a second yellow and given his marching orders.

Today the FA have said in a statement: “Luton Town has been fined £10,000 after its players surrounded a match official during the EFL Championship game against Burnley FC on Saturday 18 February 2023.

“The club admitted failing to ensure that its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 77th minute, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed the fine during a hearing.”
