Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall says Luton is ‘the perfect club’ to make a name for himself after an impressive debut for the Leicester loan signing in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
The midfielder joined Town on transfer deadline day on a season-long loan, having cut his teeth at Blackpool last term, only for his League One campaign to be cut short, ten games in, by the Coronavirus curtailment.
Dewsbury-Hall played his first 90 minutes in seven months at Hillsborough, where he looked comfortable on his Hatters and Championship full debut.
The 22-year-old said: “Obviously, playing for Blackpool and the virus happening, League One didn’t continue so I had to go back to Leicester and just train without playing matches and it was tough.
“I came back in pre-season having not played since March and I’m not really used to that, I’m used to play games so this year was all about playing games for me because I’m at an age now where I want to really push on and make a name for myself. I feel like Luton is the perfect club to do that this season.
“I’m going out to get a lot of experience and develop, I’m only going to become a better player when I come here and play in the Championship because it is a really tough league.
“The games come thick and fast and it’s quick so I’m really happy to be here, Leicester obviously wanted me to come so I just want to kick on now.”
At Hillsborough, Dewsbury-Hall was handed his full Luton debut at the same time as midfield partner Joe Morrell, who was signed from Bristol City for £200,000 just before the transfer window shut.
The Leicester ace said: “Obviously me and Joe haven’t known each other for a while but we have been put in there together and we are hoping to get a nice little partnership going. We both like to play football, we know what each other are good at so hopefully in the future that can progress and we can have a good little partnership.”
The first impressions have been that both of them can cut it in the Championship, and asked about his first taste of the division, Dewsbury-Hall said: “It is a bit more intense, it’s a bit quicker and the standard of play is probably a bit better but I back myself to play in the Premier League.
“So, it’s really nice to come here and just progress and play as many games as I can in a really tough league. It is only going to benefit me for the future.”
