Jess McKay bagged a brace and a hat-trick of assists as unbeaten Luton Town Ladies battered Bungay Town for six to march on to the Women’s FA Cup second qualifying round.
The hosts dominated throughout with the lower division opponents failing to register a shot on target. Goals from Funmi Babalola and Zara Carroll, both assisted by Jess McKay gave a deserved lead to the Hatters in the first half.
Dione Manning made it 3-0 early in second half thanks to a beautiful cross by Tanya Blacksley, before McKay scored two goals and assisted her third goal of the day to seal the game with a player of the match performance.
The Hatters showed their superiority early in the game as they created a couple chances for McKay and Babalola within the first ten minutes, setting the rhythm of the game.
But the two combined with Babalola breaking the deadlock before McKay landed a corner perfectly on Carroll’s head for the second.
Six minutes into the second half, Tanya Blacksley found Dionne Manning who hit the net at the second attempt after her initial drive was saved.
The Bungay keeper then denied McKay a spectacular but couldn’t keep her out for long as she doubled up for a second time this term to make it four then five.
Substitute Rebecca Kane, who had been on the pitch for ten minutes, saw a goal ruled out for offside, but Luton struck again for the sixth time in the 86th minute when Wade headed home McKay’s corner, for her first Luton goal since signing from Dunstable in the summer.
It was good preparation for next weekend’s top of the table clash at Harlow Town.
