Liam Walsh and his partner Missy Bo Kearns have revealed they have lost their baby during pregnancy.
The Luton Town midfielder and the Aston Villa Women player had, just a month ago, shared the news they were expecting their first child, posting a video on social media showing the pair painting “mum + dad” on a wall alongside a September due date while holding ultrasound scans.
However, Kearns confirmed in a message posted to Instagram last night, which Walsh shared on his account, that the pregnancy had ended in tragedy.
She wrote: “With very heavy hearts, we want to share that we’ve lost our baby during pregnancy.
“The past weeks have been filled with a kind of sadness that’s hard to explain, and we’re still trying to come to terms with it all.
“Right now, we’re focusing on recovering and supporting each other through this. We truly appreciate the love and support around us more than we can say.”
Walsh and Kearns, who has represented England women’s national football team, received messages of support from across football following the announcement.
Kearns’ club, Aston Villa, posted on social media: “We are sending all our love and support to Missy Bo and Liam at this difficult time.”
Luton Town said: “We send all out live and support to Liam, Missy Bo and their families and this deeply sad time.”
Luton Town Ladies wrote: “Our thoughts are with Missy, Liam and all of their loved ones at this difficult time.”
