Luton Town have signed Chelsea and England youth forward Izzy Brown on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Chelsea.
The deal, which is subject to Premier League and EFL approval, is Town’s second signing on deadline day after the loan capture of Aston Villa’s James Bree.
Brown posted on Twitter: ‘Really pleased to begin this next chapter of my career at Luton, can’t wait to get back doing what I love. See you all soon.’ And, in a separate post, he tweeted: ‘Let’s do this Hatters’.
The 22-year-old, who has 36 caps for England between Under-16 and U20 level, is the second youngest player to play in the Premier League after making a substitute appearance for West Brom against Arsenal in May 2013, aged 16 years and 117 days.
Brown, who was reportedly a Stoke City target in this transfer window, moved from West Brom to Chelsea later in 2013, where he made one senior appearance under Jose Mourinho in the last game of the the 2014/15 season, against boyhood club the Baggies.
Loans followed with Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem and Championship Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town, making 41 appearances in total.
He won promotion to the Premier League with the Terriers through the play-offs and joined Brighton and Hove Albion in the 2017/18 campaign, making 15 top flight appearances before suffering a knee injury in January 2018.
He spent last season with Leeds United, making two substitute appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
