Luton have signed Josh Bowler on loan from Nottingham Forest with the forward eager to make an impact at Kenilworth Road as the Hatters’ busy transfer window continues.
Town signed Isiah Jones from Middlesbrough and Christ Makosso from Molenbeek earlier in the window, while also welcoming Lamine Fanne to the club after the end of his delayed introduction.
Then this week, Thelo Aasgaard was signed from Wigan and Town re-signed Kal Naismith from Bristol earlier. Last night, forward Millenic Alli from Exeter yesterday for a reported fee of £1.5million, though officially undisclosed, but sustained interest in Wycombe hotshot Richard Kone appears to a have hit a fourth brick wall amid claims today of a £7million being rejected.
But Luton have continued to add to their attacking options by bringing Bowler on loan, their seventh new man this month. The the 25-year-old forward brings a wealth of Championship experience. He rose through QPR’s academy before earning a move to Everton as a promising 18-year-old. His subsequent stints at Hull City, Blackpool, and Greek side Olympiacos, as well as his time with Nottingham Forest, have equipped him with the versatility and experience needed to make a difference at Luton Town.
“I knew there was a bit of interest for me coming to Luton,” Bowler told the club’s website, adding: “Speaking to the manager, he said he’s quite fond of me and likes how I play. He remembered me from my time at Blackpool and Cardiff and was keen to get me in as I fit his system, so I’m really pleased to be here.”
Bowler, who has played for Championship clubs including Blackpool, Cardiff City, and Preston North End, understands the demands of the league and he added: “I’ve played most of my games in the Championship, so I know the league inside out and I’m ready to get going.”
The Surrey-born forward is particularly excited about playing at Kenilworth Road, though he’ll have to wait until later in February, with trips to Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland up next.
“I’ve experienced playing there a few times and it’s always been one of those grounds that I’ve found tough to go to,” Bowler said of Luton’s home, adding: “To be able to play there week in, week out with those fans on my side is something I’m really looking forward to.”
