Sonny Bradley says Luton can look at Saturday’s 0-0 draw as a good point but also one they should’ve won after the Hatters were denied what he thought was a clear penalty.
The draw lifted Town off the foot of the Championship table, but in the first half there were big claims for a spot-kick after defender Matty Pearson appeared to be pulled back in the Wigan 18-yard area as he tried to get on the end of an Izzy Brown free-kick.
Bradley, who returned to the side after three games out injured, said: “I think this is a game maybe we should’ve won. We’ll look back on it and say it’s a good point, but in the first half especially, I think we should have a penalty.
“I’m right there and I can see it. Matty Pearson is as honest as they come, and if Matty Pearson gets a chance to head in from five yards, he’s going to take it. He’s not going to fall to the floor. He’s been impeded, he’s been taken to the floor.
“I think the referee has had a bad view of it, which is the reason he can’t give it, in my opinion.”
Luton boss Graeme Jones said: “We don’t get penalties, it’s Luton, we’re not going to get those kind of decisions.
“I speak to the boys and we need to be above the referee, we need to be so good that we earn the win and you can’t rely on referees.
“They tell me it was a penalty, I haven’t seen it back, I’ll have to have a look.”
