Luton have been fined £13,500 by the FA over the touchline dug-out brawl with Swansea’s bench during their Championship victory, while Hatters assistant boss Richie Kyle has been fined £1,000 for his role in the fracas.

It’s the second time in a month that Town have been hit with an FA fine after they were found guilty of surrounding a match official during their 1-0 defeat to Burnley. That misdemeanour cost them £10,000.

This latest incident happened at the end of the match at Kenilworth Road earlier this month when Town chief Rob Edwards reacted to an off-the-ball incident involving Marvelous Nakamba.

Swans boss Russell Martin and Kyle were sent off and that has seen the Welsh side hit with an 11,000 fine, while their boss will have to shell out £2,000.

A statement from the FA about the latest incident said: “Luton Town and Swansea City have been fined £13,500 and £11,000 respectively for a mass confrontation that happened at their EFL Championship game on Saturday 4 March.

“Both clubs admitted that they failed to ensure their benches conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 90th minute, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed their sanctions following a hearing.

“In addition, Russell Martin and Richie Kyle have been fined £2,000 and £1,000.

“The Swansea City manager and Luton Town assistant manager admitted that their behaviour during the 90th minute was improper, and they accepted the standard penalties.”
