Luton’s own Myles Smith has unveiled his latest single ‘My First Heartbreak’, offering fans a raw glimpse into his childhood experiences.

It has already been a whirlwind year for the singer-songwriter, who picked up a BRIT Award earlier this year, where he delivered a heartfelt speech about grassroots music, and he was recently named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025.

Now, with ‘My First Heartbreak’, Smith, who grew up in Leagrave, turns his focus inwards, exploring the emotional impact of his father’s absence during his early years.

Reflecting on the deeply personal subject matter, Smith said: “This song is a reflection on my childhood and the impact of my father leaving. It’s about the pain and confusion I felt as a child, trying to make sense of why he wasn’t there and wrestling with feelings of self-blame. Even though he left, there’s still this undeniable connection – I see parts of him in me, in my features, in who I am. That bittersweet realisation is at the core of the song.”

The track sees Myles navigating heavy emotions with his trademark empathy and maturity. Despite the heartbreak at its centre, he maintains a sense of strength throughout.

He added: “As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to terms with that pain and used it to shape the person I want to be. This song is as much about heartbreak as it is about resilience and hope. It’s about breaking the cycle, learning from what I didn’t have and promising myself that I’ll be the kind of father who never leaves.”

Currently on a sold-out U.S. tour, Smith is flying the flag for English talent on the international stage, bringing his soulful sound and honest storytelling to audiences around the world.

In addition to his musical achievements, Smith’s recent inclusion in Time’s ‘Pioneers’ category highlights his impact on the music industry and beyond. On his Instagram he wrote: ‘2025 100 most influential people. A Luton boy… Thank You @TIME ❤️’

At the TIME100 gala in New York, he performed alongside his hero Ed Sheeran, who he’ll be supporting on his European tour, and expressed his amazement at the recognition he received from fellow attendees.

Out now, ‘My First Heartbreak’ serves as a form of audio therapy for the rising star, offering a cathartic listen for anyone who has faced similar experiences.
