Global pop star Myles Smith has used some of his hometown haunts and Luton landmarks to announce the release of his long-awaited debut album to millions of fans around the world.
But despite his rise to superstardom, Smith’s decision to film the announcement video in Luton highlights the strong connection he continues to maintain with the town where he grew up and where his music journey began.
Over the past two years, Smith has rapidly emerged as one of the UK’s most compelling new voices, known for his emotionally direct songwriting, rich vocal delivery and ability to translate personal experiences into globally resonant records.
His breakout single ‘Stargazing’ became a global phenomenon, amassing hundreds of millions of streams and introducing his music to audiences worldwide. The song marked a defining moment in his rise, establishing Smith as an artist capable of turning deeply personal moments into songs that resonate on a universal scale.
The 27-year-old singer songwriter, who has 20.3 million monthly Spotify listeners, returned to his hometown earlier this month for a surprise pop-up show in the Hat District, but the visit also doubled as the setting for a promotional video revealing his first full record, ‘My Mess, My Heart, My Life’, which will be released on June 12.
The video features a series of locations across Luton, including footage from the Hat District performance that drew crowds of fans into the town centre. Smith can also be seen on Cambridge Street in New Town, inside the nearby Sugar Loaf pub, and walking through Leagrave Park, close to where he grew up.
Other scenes show him visiting places that have played a role in his life and connection to the town, including Luton and Dunstable Hospital, Luton Town Football Club’s Kenilworth Road stadium and his former school, Lealands High School and Luton Sixth Form College.
The montage was released on Smith’s social media channels to announce the album, with the Luton backdrop forming a central part of the message to his global audience.
Smith said: “This album is the most honest thing I’ve ever made. The title really says it all – it’s about the mess, the heart and the life that sits around it. These songs come from moments I never thought I’d share. Nights that felt endless, mornings that felt like starting over, memories that will always stay with me.”
He added: “One of the biggest shifts while writing this album was resisting the urge to resolve everything. Not every feeling has an answer, and sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is sit inside that emotion rather than wrap it up neatly.”
In an accompanying Instagram post to his 1.7million followers, Smith wrote: “If I’m being honest, I’m still figuring all of this out.
“I don’t have all the answers. Just feelings, moments, and experiences that I’ve been trying to make sense of for a long time.
“These songs came from that. From growth, from mistakes, from healing, from hurt. Sometimes all at once.
“And even though things might look different now, I’m still learning in real time. Still understanding myself. Still finding my way, just like you.
“That’s why this doesn’t feel like just my album. It feels like something we’ve grown into together.
“My Mess, My Heart, My Life… my debut album, out June 12th.”
The record will include several of Smith’s biggest songs to date, including global hit ‘Stargazing‘, fan favourite ‘Nice to Meet You’ and his recent collaboration ‘Drive Safe’ with former One Direction member Niall Horan.
Alongside the album release, Smith has also confirmed a UK tour for November, with arena shows planned in cities including Nottingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, Cardiff and London.
Before then, he is set to spend the summer performing internationally, including stadium appearances in North America supporting Ed Sheeran and further shows across Europe.
